Zak + DOWNTOWN

Fifteen years ago, Zak Huffman embarked on his journey in the downtown district when he ​opened his first business on Market Street. Having experienced the vibrant energy of our district as ​a child, Zak was driven by the belief that our downtown was poised for significant growth.

Since then, Zak has founded and actively managed three businesses in downtown, made ​substantial investments in rehabilitating the area, collaborated with numerous business owners and ​non-profits, and created over 300 local jobs. Yet, according to Zak, the most fulfilling aspect of ​his work has been the opportunity to engage with the people of downtown Parkersburg.

Our committee wholeheartedly endorses Zak Huffman for his unwavering dedication to downtown. ​He possesses the proven leadership, integrity, and commitment needed to draw the city’s focus to ​our downtown area. Above all, Zak’s passion and enthusiasm for this district are truly ​inspiring and contagious.

Vision Statement

+ Fairly represent every single resident of District 5 with confidence.

+ Accurately and ambitiously present the wants and needs of my district to the ​city. In a world of red tape and “we can’t do that”, we will find a work around to ​get the goal accomplished.

+ We MUST make our district safe and attractive to new potential residents, ​business owners and program directors.

+ Preserve and improve our richly extensive historical districts and make them ​safe to raise a family in. You pay for your home and pay the city taxes to ​provide protection for your family.. You shouldn’t have to live in fear! We will find a ​solution together.

+ Confront the urgent decline of our business district and incentivize new ​business, as well as support existing businesses. Using our rich resources of the ​arts, drastically increase tourism downtown.
